Dance-0117 Orton

Dance-0117 Orton Originally uploaded by occecidI further enhanced the dreamy effect through a technique known as Orton photography. Two of the same photo that are over exposed one full stopped are combined. One is sharp while the other is out of focus. The effect is a soft photo with a sharp core.

Dance Theatrics is a group of young talented girls in the Seattle area. Given an opportunity to shoot their dress rehearsal I was delighted with the power of the 1D Mark III’s high ISO quality and the professional performance of these young girls and women. This photo is one of those shots that just came out right. The shutter speed was just slow enough to catch a little motion blur.

For more information on Orton you can find lots of groups on flickr.com
