occecidThis was taken durring the 2008 Winter Wings Festival in Klamath Falls, Oregon The Klamath Basin of South Central Oregon and Northern California is home to over 350 species of birds throughout the year. It is world famous for spectacular flocks of waterfowl on the lakes, rivers and nearby Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuges. We’re especially blessed to be home to the largest concentration of wintering Bald Eagles in the lower 48 states. The Klamath Basin Audubon Society (KBAS) is sponsoring the Winter Wings Festival in conjunction with the Klamath Wingwatchers. Durring the event I taught the “Canon Photography Workshop and Self-Directed Photo Safari” class on Saturday.  (My Profile)
The picture to the right was one of those lucky shots.  I was riding with some of my friends when we saw this eagle fly up to the post.  Not sure if I would have time to pull out the tripod and worried the activity would scare off the eagle, I simple hand held the 600mm with a 2X converter for a total of 1200mm.  I have to admit, I was surprised to see how shart this shot turned out
